Patrik Antonius vs. Tom “durrrr” Dwan at four heads-up No-Limit Texas Holdem or Pot-Limit Omaha tables

High stakes poker community has just got used to the idea that Tom "durrrr" Dwan has sent them a challenge with a proposal of his $1.5 million to their $500,000 saying that he can beat them over 50,000 hands played at four heads-up No-Limit Texas Hold’ em or Pot-Limit Omaha tables at the same time, the first reply has come pat. The first player to accept the challenge was Patrik Antonius. First after that a set of four special ‘durrrr Challenge’ PLO tables have been prepared on Full Tilt.

According to information from the official site of PokerNews, they will be getting regular updates from Patrick Antonius on how the process is going on from his viewpoint. Poker community has fully focused its attention on this exciting event. People thought that the challenge would begin last week. However, Patrik informed to he had no possibility to play at the high-stakes tables at the time as he was traveling abroad.

He is saying that he is in Thailand on a holiday with my family now. They have just left Australia and decided to go there as their friends have been recommending visiting the country so bad recently. Patrik confesses that he really enjoys staying in Thailand and his family is having a great time there, especially his two-year-old daughter. They adore this peaceful atmosphere, good food and beautiful nature.

Of course Patrik never travels without his laptop, none of real online poker players does. But this time the circumstances are against him, as because of broadband issues at his end he is not able to start the challenge immediately. The internet connection is not good enough and too slow for playing four poker tables simultaneously. Patrik is going to Monaco soon, so he expects that he can begin playing then.

Poker experts consider Antonius one of the best world poker players both in live and online versions. But they think that the requirements set by Dwan are more favorable for this young online player. It is rather difficult even for an experienced professional player to cope with four heads-up tables at once. Let’s see what Patrik says about his chances and these parameters of the durrrr challenge.

"Playing four heads-up tables will be tough, especially at pot-limit Omaha . PLO is a game of good calls, good value bets and good bluffs; you have a lot of tough decisions on the turn and river, that’s for sure, so I will need plenty of focus. Thankfully I have played so many hands of PLO that I am able to respond to situations a bit quicker and I tend to take the same amount of time for every decision, so I do not give off any timing tells. Every now and then you get a hand where you have to use the time bank but Tom usually takes quite a bit of time to act, too, so we will play at the same pace." Patrik continued that he had a practice of durrrr playing at two and three tables at the same time and he did it pretty well. So, he feels rather confident that the fourth table will not make a big difference for him, although it requires time and effort to adapt to that. His competitor played much more sessions at four or more heads-up tables at high stakes. And this is a great advantage of Tom Dwan.

It seems that playing 50,000 hands can take a half of life. Patrik shared his thoughts on how long the challenge may last.

He said that it might take between three to six months, as they were going to play short sessions. Patrik with Tom agreed to play 2-5 hours per day that would work out to approximately 600 hands per hour. This is a hard task for the mind to manage. Moreover, the players are located at different time zones, and it will be more difficult for them to get together.

Patrik is a very busy man. He can’t allow himself to devote all his time to Texas Hold’em or another kind of poker. Sometimes he doesn’t play at all. He would like to arrange the play timing the way it would be convenient for him and Tom.
